BTT: Comfort Food

Okay . . . picture this (really) worst-case scenario: It’s cold and raining, your boyfriend/girlfriend has just dumped you, you’ve just been fired, the pile of unpaid bills is sky-high, your beloved pet has recently died, and you think you’re coming down with a cold. All you want to do (other than hiding under the covers) is to curl up with a good book, something warm and comforting that will make you feel better.

What do you read?

Anne of the Island OR Rilla of Ingleside OR Emily's Quest, all written by Lucy Maud Montgomery, and all ending happily.

I love LMM's writing, and the "hominess" of PEI. Every time I read her, it's like wrapping up in a warm blanket in a comfy bed; I just snuggle down into the stories.

Montgomery does work like a charm. Long time I re-read any. Time to go back.

THanks!

The Anne books are among my literary comfort food, too.

How sad is it that I have never read a Montgomery book?? Note to self: Add to my TBR list!

I can definitely see the appeal of something comforting and warm on a difficult day. :)

I'm also an Anne lover, although I'd pick the first book in the series. Both of the ones you picked, as well as the Emily novel, are great, too, though, and would substitute adequately on a miserable day.

Yeah, I like when books do that, make you snuggle up. I can't think of a particular author now though. Happy BTT!

I'm not familir with these books you listed. But I guess I better start now, don't I? *grin*

Great answer! Happy BTT!

Oooh, that's a good choice! I've read only the first two books in the series (loved them, as did my husband), but I'll take your post as a recommendation to read the others.

I can't wait until my daughter is old enough to read those books so we can take a pilgrimage, er, I mean trip to PEI.
