I have watched these episodes a jillion times, and I laugh and laugh; it never gets unfunny.

Jim: We're all getting excited to see this fight. The Albany branch is working right through lunch to prevent downsizing, but Michael, he decided to extend our lunch by an hour so that we couldall go down to the dojo and watch him fight Dwight. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
Dwight: I need to change my emergency contact information from Michael Scott ...
Ryan: Okay, to what?
Dwight: Just put, "The. Hospital." Contact number ... just put 911.
Michael: I told Dwight that there is honor in losing. Which, as we all know, is completely ridiculous. But there is, however, honor in making a loser feel better, which is what I just did for Dwight.

Mei, "The Office" is undoubtedly funny, but I'm one of those who think the original British version is even funnier. My 22-year-old son zeroed in on why we like it better: the boss, David Brent, comes across as a real person--warts and all--so that, ridiculous and obnoxious as he is, you still feel for him.
Steve Carrell is hilarious, but his portrayal is so over-the-top it's almost cartoonish. Just my humble opinion! :)
See, I never liked David Brent. I love that show, but mostly because of the Tim-Dawn storyline. And Gareth. And Keith, oh, Keith!
David Brent ... he reminds me of Marcia Brady.
Let me explain: on this one episode of the Brady Bunch, Marcia has a crush on her dentist. She totally has this fantasy about him coming home from work (to her parents' house, which: weird) and she Little Womans him right into his comfortable ... dentist chair. So one day he asks her what she's doing on a Friday night and she gets all excited that finally SHE WILL BE DATING HER DENTIST.
Now, see, I cannot watch this episode. I have seen it fully ONE TIME, which is unusual given that I have seen every episode of the BB like, 2365094786 times. But this one ... I cannot watch it. When Marcia smiles her goofy smile at the dentist, my cheeks heat up. When she dreams about him, I actually have to look away. When she gets all excited about their "date," and he is really just asking if she will babysit, I almost self-combust with embarrassment.
And that is how I feel about David Brent. When he walks into the office wearing his knock-off leather jacket and talks about being "rock-n-roll," my cheeks heat up. When he tries to make funny jokes and instead makes a complete fool of himself, I have to look away. And when he did his motivational speaking in a white t-shirt and backwards baseball cap, I almost burst into a shower of ashes.
I agree that Steve Carrell is sometimes over-the-top, but so far he has not caused any temperature changes in my face.
Also? John Krasinski is hot. (hee)
OK, Mei, I know exactly what you mean. I've had the same cheek-heat factor when someone says or does or sings something really bad or goofy in church.
My oldest son prefers the American "Office," and I must admit, I watched it last night and it was pretty dang funny.
Ironically, I had the Marcia Brady reaction to last night's episode, when Jim was talking to Pam about their "first date."
Me: Jim, NO! SHUT UP! NOOOOO!
But I did laugh when Michael got under his desk when he was on the phone. And when Dwight was sleeping under the foil blanket in the office. And, MOST especially, when Kevin said, "Two thumbs DOOOOWWWWWN!"
