Today, I was walking around the room, speaking to students about the work they were doing. As I moved toward S, he stared at me intently and, as I began to comment on his work, he said, "Ms. Flower, you sound different. Is your voice changing?"
I admit I was taken aback, because that's not really the kind of question one expects when one is conducting mundane tasks such as grammar checks. But, then again, I often speak before I think, so I answered him.
"Yes," I said with deadpan calm. "Yes, it is. I've finally hit puberty. Yay!"
