Some people don't have a sense of humor. How do they make it through the day?
Some people have to grow into a sense of humor. Their friends have to train them with multiple viewings of The Princess Bride, though that can be dangerous: having to explain why something is funny takes the humor right out.
Some people think poo is funny. We don't talk, those people and I.
Some people are lucky enough to be born into a family that has an awesome--but slightly twisted--sense of humor. These people grow up knowing that taking themselves too seriously is grounds for a tickle fight; that arrogance results in their parents reminding them of that time they told their guidance counselor they wanted to be a veterinarian (or a stand-up comic); that no one will ever, no never, forget how they got kicked out of the spelling bee on the word holiday; that there is one road trip everyone remembers on account of the sulphur pills; that that unfortunate phase of wearing vests every day will come up in a conversation eventually.
I came up in that family (I'm the one with the weird career aspirations); it's because of my home training that this happened:
note the circa 1991 permed triangle bob
awesome
That is my tenth grade biology project, a fifty-specimen bug collection. Other students pinned their bugs down in wooden boxes, or bought their collections from an enterprising parent, but mine ... mine was a masterpiece.

OK, Mei...that was funny!!! (Spoken as one who helped three kids with insect collections, and never came up with such a great idea.)
As for the triangular bob? Been there, done that.
Hey, I like your new blog look!
That is absolutely brilliant! Wow.
Awesome collection! My dad (an entomologist) would have gotten such a kick out of that.
Your new template is darned nifty, too!
Um, Mr. Joon already brings my vest-wearing days up in conversations. Quite frequently, I might add! You should've added football games and vegetable soup.
Thanks, everybody! I held onto that plan for the whole year. I didn't tell anyone at all, because I was afraid someone might steal my awesome idea.
I love my new look too!
You're so creative! Did your Science teacher see the fun in it?
I agree with you that a lot of people don't have a sense of humor...just surprised to hear you saying that about Americans.
I grew up with a lot of American sitcoms and imagine Americans would be No. 1 in having a sense of humor? I have a few close friends who just love pulling pranks on their colleagues!
