Indeed! But then, I'm from the area so we didn't really have any chance of NOT knowing - given the daily news being filled with important things like sports and leisure! :)
The Raven is the only poem I ever memorized. When I learned Poe was from Baltimore, I just assumed.
Did you know they were originally the Cincinnati Browns and that when the franchise left Cincinnati they didn't get to take their records with them?
